Pleasant place for coffee, nice and quiet, can chat to friends, not rushed off table, staff lovely, highly recommended, thank you love coming here. Lovely meals too.
Pretty good food at this chain of pubs. It's the type of chain where the food is actually worth eating unlike Weatherspoons, etc. The menus are very similar between them but the chefs make or break the dishes really. Most options from the menu are pretty tasty with the lamb shoulder a particular favourite of mine. They have a wide selection of beers along with plenty of other drink options. Well worth a visit but it's a tad pricey.
We went here for Xmas day, after visiting several times before & liking the meals/portions. At 70pp, it wasn't cheap, but I understand that there are many extra expenses at that time, and who wants to work Xmas day? Everything about the Old Hall was it's usual good standard, the staff were all friendly & brilliant (hence a 35 tip), BUT the meal was quite disappointing from their usual standard. I & my partner had lamb, the rest of our party had turkey. When it came, I was so underwhelmed by the quantity on the plate, I asked our waitress if the veg' was on it's way. "Extra veg - no problem", she said! OMG, I'm glad I asked, as what there was, was minimal. Also, we only got ONE SLICE of lamb. As I said, I was quite happy to pay the 70, but expected to have a good meal. The others had 4 slices of turkey & passed me a couple of slices, as they felt sorry for us! You know that saying; 'spoil the boat for a ha'porth of tar'? Well, that's how it felt. Sorry.
Just been to spend some time with a good friend first we had coffee stayed for a light lunch. We'll recommend The food and coffee excellent there was a roaring fire on a cold day well worth a visit cater for everyone.
